reBOX Save The Food

The reBOX project was created to animate a change in the food culture and to make people aware of the problem of food waste, in order to fight it; it strives to reach those goals through, initially, two products: the first, called reFOOD, a container used to bring home the leftover food at the restaurant. It’s what is commonly known as a doggy bag, but with specific characteristics: it is beautiful, convenient and practical; three characteristics required by the everyday Italian to overcome the shame linked to the act of bringing home leftover food from the restaurant, which is still somewhat frowned upon in the country.

The second product is called reWINE and it allows the customer to bring home a bottle of wine that has already been opened but not finished.

In addition to our products we have set up a number of side projects and services that are always focused on changing the culture. And to be able to change the Italian bad habit of seeing leftover food as something that should be thrown away instead of viewing it as a resource, we must speak to different agents who are not only the restaurateurs but also the public opinion, the public administration , companies and primary schools, to be able to change the culture from below and in a long-lasting way.

To make our project more effective we are making the most of a series of important partnerships: a commercial one with Ticket Restaurant, as well as one with the Iescum that helps us to refine our language, our communication, the product and the services with the goal in mind to change this culture in an easier way. Last but not least, the partnership with the FAVINI paper mill that allows us to produce our reFOOD with paper deriving from agro-food waste.
At the moment we are developing projects in the municipalities of Rimini, Cesenatico, Siena, San Mauro Torinese, Nichelino, Ladispoli where we will work on the change of culture also through contests for restaurateurs, their customers and children.

As of now our reFOOD is available in about 450 restaurants on the national territory and we plan to reach 1000 by the end of the year.
Given the enquiries from abroad, one of the next steps, for which we are looking for investors, is that of internationalization.
